HOW DID YOU IDENTIFY YOUR PASSION AND THE WORK THAT SATISFIED YOU VERSUS WORK THAT JUST PAID THE BILLS?

My passion and purpose has been birthed from my own healing journey. As I began to heal from my personal experiences I began to open up to this river of energy inside of me that seemed to light up every time I spoke to women and told them about my path. I made a commitment to myself to always follow what lights me up inside and to keep moving with the good feelings both in my life and my work.

WHO WILL ETERNALLY BE A WOMAN YOU ADMIRE AND RESPECT, AND WHY?

I admire the part of me that doesn’t give up, even when the rest of me wants to!  I have walked through the fire of life many times over and each time I have chosen to pick myself up when my world had crumbled around me. To do that with grace and to choose again to grow from the most painful experiences.

IN LIGHT OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF OUR HASHTAG #WHYITRIBE, WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO CELEBRATE WHO WE ALREADY ARE TODAY?

In our current times the world is so fast forward moving, thinking of the next this or that. It’s more important than ever to stop at each moment to recognise where we actually are in our lives and on our paths. This supports us to really see how far we have come, all of our successes and all of the moments that have built us into an empowered women.

To be truly present in the moment is a rare and beautiful thing in these times we are living. I also believe that this brings us greater connection to ourselves, others, our work and greater productivity in our creativity too.

NAME A TIME RECENTLY WHEN YOU SAID SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF/HOW DID THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?

I have recently expanded my online work which I had been feeling for a while, as I opened up this space within my life and work I began to bring in clients from all over the world! This proves to me when we make the space and say yes to growing and sharing in our fullness the universe listens and provides! I feel incredibly grateful for the part of me inside that said “do it” the deep intuition Within always knows!

WHY DO YOU THINK WOMEN SHY AWAY FROM CELEBRATING OR PRAISING THEMSELVES SO MUCH?

I see that women have been culturally and socially imprinted on over a long period of time to believe themselves to be less than. There are many layers of shame and fear around celebrating yourself as a woman, the fear of not being accepted in the world or being cast out of groups for celebrating yourself.

Fear of being seen as too much. Fear of shining brightly. Fear of taking up space. Fear of our own energy and power. So we have learnt as a collective to stay small, to please others and stay hidden because of the fear of being fully seen! When I personally journeyed through this healing it was like a huge weight had been lifted from me, I finally became free in my own body. It felt so amazing to celebrate myself for all of my achievements. This is now part of my personal practice to make sure I always continue to acknowledge my achievements and work.

HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THE TENDENCY TO DISCREDIT COMPLIMENTS YOU ARE GIVEN?

I believe in the practice of awareness. In moments when I am being complimented I simply take a deep breath and say thank you, “Thank you for your kind words. And I opened my whole self up to receive them!”  I see that when we dismiss someone’s compliments we are actually rejecting THEM! which is an awful pattern and can’t feel nice for that person who is being vulnerable enough to share their heart and kind thoughts with us.

HOW DOES SOCIETY REINFORCE THE IDEA THAT WE, AS WOMEN, ARE NOT ENOUGH AND HOW CAN WE TAKE THAT POWER BACK?

I see this reinforced everywhere. Media, fashion, TV, education, the internet… I could go on!! I don’t believe that we can change anything external from ourselves. What we do have the ability to do is change our internal world. We can do this by asking ourselves, “What am I giving my power to?”. I choose to not give my power or energy to any of the above, this choice has empowered me to live from my heart space and be able to decide what I do and don’t allow in my energy field and what does and doesn’t leave an impression on me.

We have the choice.

WHY IS THE TRIBE MOVEMENT IMPORTANT?

There had been a wounding within sisterhood through the patriarchy, that has left women competing with each other rather than celebrating one another… the tribe movement supports a sisterhood that in turn supports the healing of this ancient wound. A place for women to embrace and empower each other which in turn supports them to empower themselves too.
