HOW DID YOU IDENTIFY YOUR PASSION AND THE WORK THAT SATISFIED YOU VERSUS WORK THAT JUST PAID THE BILLS?

I always listen to my heart, what it tells me. It is difficult for me to work for jobs that
don’t fill me up. I must follow my passion in life, I believe it knows the way.

WHO WILL ETERNALLY BE A WOMAN YOU ADMIRE AND RESPECT, AND WHY?

Karlie Kloss. I’ve been following her for a long time and I’ve met her one time in
person too. I admire her because she is really open-minded. She always follows her heart, does things that she gets excited about but make positive changes (empowering women) in the society. Also, she is very humble although she is a super-model. Even at the coding camp called Kode With Klossy with teenage girls, she is never condescending. She never looks down on anyone, she treats people equally.

IN LIGHT OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF OUR HASHTAG #WHYITRIBE, WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO CELEBRATE WHO WE ALREADY ARE TODAY?

I think it is very important to celebrate who we are already because in today’s society, so many people are too focused on what they want to be. It seems like it is never enough. It is important to take a step back and appreciate who we already are or what we already have today. I believe the more you become grateful for who you already are, the more you’ll have to be grateful for.

NAME A TIME RECENTLY WHEN YOU SAID SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF/HOW DID THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?

Yesterday. I told myself that I look beautiful and I am beautiful. This month, I’m doing
a “31 days of self-love” challenge by blessing manifesting. Yesterday’s self-love question was “what’s a compliment that you struggle to accept about yourself”. For me, I struggle when people tell me I look beautiful, because there’s a part of me that hopes to step up our compliments. I believe when we can learn to compliment more than just our physical appearance, we can learn to see more and we can be more. But there’s nothing wrong with compliments on physical appearance, so I decided to tell myself that I look beautiful and I AM beautiful too yesterday.

WHY DO YOU THINK WOMEN SHY AWAY FROM CELEBRATING OR PRAISING THEMSELVES SO MUCH?

I think women shy away from celebrating or praising themselves so much because the role of a woman in a family used to be/ is so crucial. She can either make or break a family. Usually, she gives her husband the strength to succeed, she nurtures her children to stay healthy and do well in their life, and she has the ability to take care of every minute detail at home. That’s probably why, it became hard for women to only care about themselves. They use that care to give to others because they value others’ lives and happiness more than theirs.

HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THE TENDENCY TO DISCREDIT COMPLIMENTS YOU ARE GIVEN?

I overcame the tendency to discredit compliments I am given by saying “thank you”
more. Before, I disagreed with whatever compliments I received from others. I just couldn’t trust them. But now that I like myself more for who I am, I try to say thank you instead. Once I started loving myself, I also started seeing beauty in everyone I met and now, I give them compliments while looking them in the eyes too.

HOW DOES SOCIETY REINFORCE THE IDEA THAT WE, AS WOMEN, ARE NOT ENOUGH AND HOW CAN WE TAKE THAT POWER BACK?

I think we can keep spreading awareness first by sharing women’s stories more. We
should not be afraid of speaking up to help other women and to improve the society. I believe good changes always start with awareness. That’s why I openly share my own story on my platforms too.

WHY IS THE TRIBE MOVEMENT IMPORTANT?

THE TRIBE movement is important because in the media or social media, there’s not
enough messages that empowers women or others to be who they are. We need to realize that perfection really doesn’t exist. We can learn to be happy with our perfect imperfections with a community like The Tribe. I cannot wait to see more women embracing and loving who they are.
