WHYITRIBE (THE REASON YOU THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO CELEBRATE WHO YOU ALREADY ARE):

I believe life, breath, is the greatest gift we all have been gifted, and that all of us were brought here for a reason. We are one-of-a-kind and embody something unique to contribute to the greater good of society. When you honor those ideas, you accept and celebrate who you are. We all have different circumstances that contribute to our journey. Life is a spectrum. Two ends of extreme with an array in-between. Find where you are on the spectrum. This is your starting point. Learn. Move forward. Make decisions from a place of love. Ask questions. Seek guidance. Be courageous. Evolve. Right foot. Be still. Left foot. Breathe. Trust. Gratitude. Celebrate you as you are!  I believe it’s important to celebrate who we already are, because we are a life, the most precious gift.

NAME A TIME RECENTLY WHEN YOU SAID SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF / HOW DID THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?

I was doing an interview recently and they asked if I could recall feeling proud of myself. That’s not a question you get asked everyday and for me it is not something I think about often. That’s something I am working on though, because I believe we need to take moments to acknowledge how far we’ve come in life, even if we have a long road ahead of us. So I recalled this particular moment out loud and it made me remember a really beautiful moment in my life. A moment when I did something for the first time that I never thought I could do. Remembering that moment mentally and vocally made me feel such joy inside, and I had the most natural and beautiful smile on my face.

WHY DO YOU THINK WOMEN SHY AWAY FROM CELEBRATING OR PRAISING THEMSELVES SO MUCH?

I don’t like to answer questions for others, but I can share why I shy or why I use to shy away from celebrating myself. For me, it was a combination of things. I had low self-esteem, because of the toxic relationship I had with my father my entire life. That was the root to many of my issues in life, but thankfully, I was able to resolve all of that with myself and with him before he passed away. And, I always had a fear of feeding my ego. I see situations where people are self celebrated and their ego grows in an unhealthy way. I don’t want to be that kind of person. That’s the other end of the spectrum for me. I want to find balance. So I would let the fear of that win and I wouldn’t celebrate myself. I also was never taught how to celebrate myself.

HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THE TENDENCY TO DISCREDIT COMPLIMENTS YOU ARE GIVEN?

I look the person in the eye when they are giving me a compliment and I say thank you. Before I would completely ignore it, and compliment them without even saying thank you. That wasn’t very kind of me. I also tell myself, whatever I did in the past no longer exists. Every breath is a new moment, so I have to live in the present and continue to do the things I am complimented on.

HOW DOES SOCIETY REINFORCE THE IDEA WE ARE NOT ENOUGH AND HOW CAN WE TAKE THAT POWER BACK?

Society, especially media, reinforce the idea that we are not enough in many ways. Imagine if we lived in a world where they teach self-love in elementary, middle, and high school. Self-love needs to be a part of our education in schools and at home, but most times it’s not for various reasons. To take that power back, we have to start with teaching ourselves, and living from a place of love and acceptance. Everything starts from within.

WHY IS THE TRIBE MOVEMENT IMPORTANT?

THE TRIBE movement is important, because it represents unity, and support. The world always needs those, but they are especially crucial to the well being of society and humanity, right now. The only way to move out of fear is with love. Love always wins. THE TRIBE movement is  love in its most natural form.
